Vivek Ramaswamy endorses Nick Begich for Congress

It’s one of the most valuable endorsements on the conservative side of politics: Vivek Ramaswamy, a former Republican candidate for president, has endorsed Nick Begich for Alaska’s congressional seat.

It’s the first endorsement Ramaswamy has made in the 2024 election cycle, after he dropped from the race and endorsed Donald Trump for president in January.

Ramaswamy announced his endorsement on X/Twitter:

Before he endorsed Begich, Ramaswamy said that he had been receiving a lot of requests for endorsements, and he was screening them carefully with a set of America First principles. Begich was the first.

“You know who loves the environment more than most people? Alaskans. You know who advocates for unleashing American energy more than most people? Alaskans. @nickforalaska is America-First & Alaska-Proud. He signed the American Truth Pledge & I’m proud to endorse him,” Ramaswamy said in his video.

Begich is running for the second time for Congress, after making the top three during the 2022 election, which was the first time Alaskans had used the ranked-choice voting method to select a person to represent them in Congress. Begich is a Republican and has been since high school, when he was a member of his high school’s Republican club.

Ramaswamy is an American businessman and author of the book “Woke, Inc.: Inside Corporate America’s Social Justice Scam,” which was a New York Times bestseller. His other books are “Nation of Victims: Identity Politics, the Death of Merit, and the Path Back to Excellence,” and “Capitalist Punishment: How Wall Street is Using Your Money to Create a Country You Didn’t Vote For.”

Mainstream media calls him one of the “intellectual godfathers of the anti-woke movement” and the “right’s leading anti-ESG crusader” The New Yorker called him the “C.E.O. of Anti-Woke.”

Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Ramaswamy often recounts the sage advice from his father: “If you’re going to stand out, then you might as well be outstanding.”

Begich is a businessman, as well. Like Ramaswamy, he has not served in elected office before, but has been in the private sector since college and has deeply held conservative values, which is what won him an endorsement from Rep. Byron Donalds last month, as well as endorsements from a long list of Alaskans.

Begich said on X/Twitter, “Thank you @VivekGRamaswamy for your strong support! By putting the people of America FIRST, our great nation will be more prosperous and free. Alaska has an important role to play in our national resurgence, and I’ll be proud to fight every day for Alaska in DC!”

Recently, Lt. Gov. Nancy Dahlstrom, also a Republican, joined the race to beat Rep. Mary Peltola, a Democrat. Dahlstrom, who ran with Gov. Mike Dunleavy in 2022, has the endorsement of Dunleavy.

    • he ran for president, he’s eloquent, he’s successful, he’s a good businessman. he’s making a difference in America.

      • Still, what makes his endorsement valuable?

He didn’t win a primary, he has shown little to no influence, and annoyed as many people as he intrigued.

        • Avenger: Agreed. Personally, I’d have said that the guy is all hat and no horse….And honestly, I believe that goes for Begich as well.

          • have you talked to begich? make an educated vote. neither nancy dahlstrom or mary peltola want what’s best for you. they are only about themselves.

          • have you talked to begich? make an educated vote. nancy dahlstrom is in the race only for herself same with peltola.

          • have you talked to begich? nancy dahlstrom has spent years in politics in this state and done what exactly? she’s in this for herself and peltola is pretending to be moderate when she’s extremely left.

        • little influence?he has over 2 million followers on twitter. candidates doesn’t have to win a primary to be influential, smart and make a difference. he speaks the truth about DC and the national republican party.

      • He’s a kook and one of the huge crowd on the right that can’t admit that Trump lost the 2020 election to an octogenarian.

    • Ramaswamy has a full shovel-full of brains. He is clearly able to process complex, multivariable issues logically and cogently; he is then able to articulate an understandable view of said issues–with obvious talent. I believe we can trust his judgement. Accordingly, his assessment of who would be our best representative must be taken very seriously.

  1. So; the first thing that comes to mind is: WHY would another Republican run against Nick Begich and risk a split party vote with RCV. It didn’t turn out well for us last time. Dahlstrom needs to put her ego aside and step out of the race. C’mon, with the Democrats cheating do we really need to give them a greater edge over us by having two candidates??? Dunleavy use some common sense and pull your endorsement, talk some sense into this person. ONE party ONE candidate.

    • her ego is too big. she will never get out. she can’t do her current job, don’t know why she’s running for congress.

      • he is not obliged to her. he is obliged to do what is right for alaskans. he should tell nancy to step down as lt governor and let someone who is committed to doing the lt gov job take over. dunleavy endorsement is disappointing but career politicians have to stick together i guess. the swamp.

    • Big money back east wants their team in place. I get the feeling Nick is not on their team, so they want to run someone who is. It’s that simply. It’s not ideology, but it is politics. I’m voting Nick 1, Nancy 2. Whatever happens we can’t repeat last time. We get one shot at this and if we fail Mary is in for life, and that probably means not just as a congress woman, but as senator or governor. People have got to rank the conservatives 1 and 2, come what may or we are sunk and only have ourselves to blame.

      • completely agree. begich has stated if he comes in behind nancy he’ll get out of the race. he’s said on radio several times. haven’t heard nancy dahlstrom say that. why hasn’t she said that? i haven’t. heard anything from nancy.
it’s disappointing the gov endorsed her.

        • If he said that then he doesn’t understand rank voting. I certainly hope he didn’t say that because it would show him to be unqualified, similar to the Bear Doctor not knowing anything about birthday right citizenship.

    • Agreed. With all of her legislative experience why not hold out for governor. I believe it is the natural progression for the politically inclined. Begich, through these last couple of primary bouts has shown himself to be consistent and sure footed. Now if the likes of Palin and Dahlstrom would stop interfering to water down the vote, he might make a crackerjack Congressman, unlike the current occupant.

  2. Dahlstrom needs to stay out of this Race! Let’s give Nick a chance in DC, I’ve been reluctant to back Him but I believe He should be given the Nod to go up against the Mary.

  3. Ranked choice voting makes it political suicide for Begich and Dahlstrom, both Republicans, to run against Peltola for the house seat. This will wind up exactly the same as the last election where Begich and Palin ran against Peltola, thus splitting the conservative vote and insuring a Peltola win. Ranked Choice voting has to be stopped, but until then it’s plumb foolish to have two conservatives splitting the vote and giving the libs an early Christmas present. I would strongly suggest that Begich and Dahlstrom draw straws, loser walks away and endorses the winner. This way the conservative would have a 50% chance of winning the house seat, which would beat the hell out of paving the way for Peltola’s 2nd elected term.

    • If we had a functioning GOP, they would sit her down, explain clearly why she has no path forward, and strongly urge her to stand down.

Exactly what didn’t happened with Queen Sarah.

If she doesn’t, publicly endorse Nick, assuming they think he can win.

As it stands now, Mary will walk into reelection because the GOP can’t tie their shoes, much less vet, promote, and successfully run a candidate.

    • begich has said that if he comes in behind dahlstrom he will get out. i’ve heard on the the radio several time.
nancy dahlstrom hasn’t come out and said anything.

      • If he said that then he doesn’t understand rank voting. I certainly hope he didn’t say that because it would show him to be unqualified, similar to the Bear Doctor not knowing anything about birthday right citizenship.

  4. I think Nancy Dalstrom should be concentrating being Lt Govenor and protecting election integrity with Mike Shower. The party find some other position for her to do after Dunleavy.

There is Only one Republican and that Nicholas Begich.

  5. Rank voting does not split the vote, uninformed voters split the vote. If you have 4 Republicans running for a seat and rank voting is used guess what you end up with…a Republican. As long as you rank Republicans then you are not splitting the vote, no matter how uninformed you are.

Rank voting is stupid, should never have been allowed, and should be replaced but it is the system we currently have. The only people allowing rank voting to split the vote are the uninformed…this is exactly why leftists want it. So keep playing to the leftist plan and you will elect leftists, or understand that rank voting is stupid but use your fingers and count to 4.

    • The open primary allows for any Alaskan to participate in the governance of this great state. You need not be pretty or rich or connected.
Evidence clearly demonstrates that any dem or repub we send to DC ultimately gets corrupted by the uniparty. Just look at Sullivan. How many times has he failed to listen to constituents and had to draw up an apology letter? Or the actions of the last Congressional Representative?
What RVC demonstrated was a lack of humility by the repub candidates.
That is not a failure of the system but rather a transparency test. Now we know those candidates will place self over Alaskans.

Let’s face it, your affiliated party is sending a candidate for a DC clique not for Alaskan representation.

      Govt gets bigger,
      Debt get bigger,
      Defense industry profits get bigger,
      While our freedoms get smaller.

    • rank choice voting absolutely splits the vote! dems aren’t running more than one candidate, why, because they know rank choice voting sucks. so they run ONE candidate who PRETENDS to be moderate. nancy needs to get out of the race! she saw what happened last election. why would she get in the race AFTER begich got in the race?
she isn’t doing her job as lt gov how can voters trust she’ll do her job in DC?

      • You should read what I wrote again, try and understand it, then don’t take part in splitting the vote. The ONLY way the vote can be split is by uninformed voters who do not understand how rank voting works. You rank the candidates that are on the ballot, as long as you don’t rank a Democrat then your vote doesn’t go to a Democrat, if you don’t rank a Republican then your vote doesn’t go to a Republican…it’s really not that hard to figure out.

  6. Excellent News! We need someone like Nick working in he US Congress on behalf of Alaska and Alaskans! Mary is a complete disappointment and udder failure!

  7. I am going to be livid if 2022 is repeated. Everyone shld gather behind Nick Begich. You see, the difference between Dems and Republicans is the Dems stick together and they don’t stab each other in the back. Did anyone else run against Peltola under the Democrats? Answer: No. They are organized and well funded. We must be united to win. It’s time Republicans start winning again! I am extremely concerned of Dahlstrom running and playing intro the hands of the ranked choice curse. Why did she have to do that??!!

  8. Great endorsement from a great America First conservative! Go Nick! Nick is the America First Conservative Alaska needs representing us in Congress. Nancy needs to drop out and focus on her job we elected her to do and support Nick; so, the party can united behind one candidate to beat Mary Peltola!

    • Why?
      She’s connected
She checks the right (pun intended) boxes.
What actions or positions do you disagree with?

      • Doesn’t matter. She’s just newly elected as the light governor. Why does she want more? Especially by making sure that the Republican vote is split and Peltola gets in again. Her own ego is in the way of her common sense, which isn’t much.
Nick Begich is our best hope to put a Republican back in to the House, NOT DAHLSTROM.

  9. This Lt. Governor, Nancy Dahlstrom, is a huge problem for Alaska Republicans. Nick Begich is the guy to most likely beat Mary Peltola, and now, Dahlstrom comes along and announces a run. Dahlstrom is a menace not just to the AK GOP, but also to the national level GOP, where the implications of congressional control are enormous. Dahlstrom should be ashamed of herself.

  10. Here’s a thought about Begich. Let’s say he was sent to Florida to distance him from his democrat family. He is raised as a republican. We can only go by the stories we hear. We know that the demons are very patient in their take over of the world. What if they had Nick sent to Florida to be groomed to act, walk and talk like a republican; but, once he’s in, he flips like every other rino that swore they were republicans. WHAT if the demons told Nancy to run to make it look like we the good people actually have a choice and, therefore, we should all get behind Nick to get him elected and we will be happy because we had a choice and if he wins, we win. Another thing to add to the mystery – his wife was a registered democrat in 2001 in Florida. Is her family full of democrats also? Are we being played again?

    • Oh, Ginny, Ginny, six of one and a half dozen of the other! One is as good as the other! And that goes for the parties–the dinner clubs. There is money riding on the race; so yes, you can count on being played, thus the endorsement!

    • Ginny, that’s a lot of what ifs. Trump himself was a registered Democrat in 2001. He even donated to Hillary Clinton. Despite all that, he had my conservative vote in 2016, 2020 and will again in 2024.

      • It’s not as if you were the first–nor will you be the last–to be beguiled and played the fool.

The political apparatchiks who’ve won will toast themselves to celebrate their scams while the losers retool their “meat grinders” for of the next election: win or loose, the charades do go on!

One of the “metrics” I will use this year in choosing my “champion” is he–or she–who makes the fewest gaffes. Maybe in 2026 I’ll rely on AI to select the sleaziest character of the cast in spoof of what we’ve made of our founders greatest dreams!
