As legislators consider whether they will have to return to Juneau to ratify the CARES Act expenditures approved by the Legislative Budget and Audit Committee, they are receiving rules from their leadership.
Part of those includes mandatory screening before they are allowed in the Capitol, and they will be required to wear a compliance sticker while in the Capitol.
Not everyone is wild about those rules. Rep. Ben Carpenter of Kenai, replied to a memo from Bryce Edgmon’s office, saying that he wanted to know what would be involved in the screening and, sarcastically, if the stickers would be in the shape of a Yellow Star of David. He was making a point about constitutional rights.
Rep. Grier Hopkins of Fairbanks was not amused. He scolded on a group email.
Rep. Sarah Vance responded that it’s not a joke. “we should all be concerned about the implications of being labeled noncompliant or wearing a badge of compliance.”
Is forcing people to wear stickers a violation of civil rights or people’s medical privacy? Readers are invited to respond.
What about meeting at the Wasilla school? There should be plenty of individual desks that can be stationed 6 feet apart and it would cut down on the travel expenses.

Article 1; Section 22 of Alaska constitution provides the Right to Privacy. Federal HIPAA laws provide for medical privacy. It appears this legislative policy violates both privacy laws.
As much as I abhor nearly every one of them and would love to see them all inconvenienced and possibly embarrassed by it, no. While I realize this particular virus is (supposedly) more contagious and deadly than others, we do not require those who have been inoculated against mumps, the flu, rubella or other diseases to “wear a badge” so stating. And, just because you’re tested, and have no symptoms today, won’t mean your not asymptomatic tomorrow.
Make them all wear a MAGA hat.
During a crisis, officials can issue mandate which are executive orders. Back to law school for you.

Validity of using N95 masks.
Because my first two years of college was as a physics major, I frequently tend to try to solve problems with the logic of physics.
During the current chaos with COVID19, the issue of everybody wearing a mask presents a problem to me. The N95 mask is what’s held up as the one to use. The N95 is supposed to filter out 95% of particles .3 microns or larger. What the microns means is that it’s really small. Using an electron microscope, scientists have determined that the Coronavirus is between .06 and .14 microns in size, considerably smaller than what the mask filters out.
The argument for using the masks is that the mask filters out the water droplets created when a person breaths, coughs or sneezes which are considerably larger. Accepting that that in fact happens, one is left with the fact of physics that before long the water or the water in the mucus evaporates and that leaves the virus trapped in the mask unattached to anything and can easily pass thru the mask with the next breath. Leading me to believe that this whole mask thing is a scam…..
The masks do stop some of it. The virus is tiny, but what it is attached to is larger and can be filtered.
Better get a refund on that college. The only way a mask dries out is if the user stops breathing. There is replenishing moisture in every breath. The virus sticks to anything. It’s not like antimatter.

Those idiots need to follow the same rules the rest of us do. I was at the Mat Su Regional the other day for a test. I had to answer the usual questions and wear a mask. I was also given a sticker to wear indicating that I had passed the test. Was I upset? Not at all. I wish there was a recall for most of those so called who say they represent us.
It has been proven my many well known Doctors that this so-called Virus is a complete scam. It’s only purpose is to sidestep Constitutional Law and make absolute slaves out of Free People. These ‘requirements’ to participate in the legislative process for politicians are nothing more than leftist creations to enhance their “dominance” over everyone else, especially the conservatives. What a bunch of BS. What their “rules” do is make it even more difficult for constituents to look our “representatives” in the eye. Just being in Juneau, away from Alaskan citizens isn’t enough now. The idiots want to make it impossible for any nay-sayer to confront them. The virus, you know. What it boils down to is control and power over the most productive for the least capable. Absolute leftism/communism is the genuine goal. Representing all Alaskans is nothing but a pipe dream for ‘commoners’.

The slopers get tested every hitch and carry a card to prove when last tested, it’s only for a short while and for all our medical protection. Look at the fishermen coming from out of state they have been tested, tested and tested again and some are still coming up positive. Do it for all if us.
