The deadline for filing for the April 6 election in Anchorage was Friday at 5 pm. Candidates may withdraw by 5 pm, Feb. 2, or they’ll show up on the ballot that will be mailed to registered voters in Anchorage.
(Note: Although not on the ballot, controversy has erupted over Assembly District 3 Seat E for West Anchorage. Since October, the seat has been vacant. The Assembly has refused to fill it, in violation of the Anchorage Charter, while its member, Austin Quinn-Davidson, serves in her temporary role as acting mayor after the sudden resignation of Mayor Ethan Berkowitz. Dustin Darden (Alaska Independence Party) has filed his candidacy for this seat in anticipation that it could somehow appear on the ballot; that appears unlikely.)

Conservatives need to meet and settle on one candidate and any left in after the smoke has settled should be considered a progressive plant. The left NEVER FAILS to Galvanize behind ONE candidate and if the right doesn’t do the same this year, in Anchorage? Then your city will be lost for good…

To educate everyone: the trick to using proposition 2 effectively is to overwhelm the ticket with a ton of ‘non-partisan’ and ‘undeclared’ party candidates who are really democrats.
This will spread out the votes enough to pretty much ensure that the few true libertarians and republicans stand no chance in getting elected with the stacked rank schema.
This is how the general election for Portland’s mayor gave voters the choice between an avowed Marxist who openly supported Antifa and the current mayor who was out protesting with BLM.

I agree Prop-2 was a dark money push to stifle our vote and the Dominion Machines pushed it through. Welcome to the battle against a communist takeover of our State and Nation.
So looks like no is running for a couple of the LSRA’s. Is the seat left vacant or is someone appointed in a case like this appears to be?
School Board seems like such a lost cause… nobody seems clear on what sacrificing a handful of decent conservative people to Anchorage’s half-billion dollar education industry is meant to accomplish.

Strangely, with all the provocative topics appearing in “Must Read Alaska”, we’ve heard nothing from the stalwarts jostling for Mayor.

Maybe China flu got their tongues, maybe they’re afraid to offend the prevailing political Establishment by whose permission they exist politically and professionally, win or lose.

Maybe they believe “Must Read Alaska” readers can’t understand the issues; readers should be happy with classic replays from all-time hit musical “They Bad, We Good, Send Money”.

Maybe they’re afraid of what “Must Read Alaska” readers might ask or say that can’t be shouted down or contemptuously dismissed Assembly style.

Maybe the answers are: (a) none of them were worth a damn to start with, and (b) Anchorage’s easily corruptible mail-in vote scheme will very probably do what it was forced on voters to do.
