Move on: Democrats shop Mary Peltola around for new hubby

She may be on opposite sides of the aisle from most Alaskans, but love is love…amirite??

It’s Valentine’s Day and everyone celebrates it in their own way. Love is love, right?

Sen. John Kennedy of Louisiana, arguably one of the wittiest senators in the country, posted a video of him cleaning his revolver as he says he believes “love is the answer, but you ought to own a gun just in case.”

The Alaska Democratic Party had their own spin on Valentine’s Day: They want to get former Rep Mary Peltola married off — again. Her husband Buzzy Peltola died in a plane crash in 2023, and evidently she is back on the singles scene.

According to Alaska Survey Research, Peltola might be a candidate for governor in 2026, so having a new husband could be a political asset. Or she might be signed with a lucrative lobbying firm in D.C., as has been rumored around the Capitol. Either way, she’s in play.

The Democrats’ Valentine’s Day messages on X/Twitter showed some of their favorite lawmakers (and the former representative) featured on gift tags. Next to Peltola, shown on the left above, was House Rep. Carolyn Hall, Democrat for House District 16, Turnagain, Spenard, and Sand Lake in Anchorage.

  1. Oh hell no! There is no way Mary ‘No Show’ Peltola should run for governor. In fact, any man, ANY MAN, should run for cover before thinking of marrying this woman.

  7. This is one of the most cringe-worthy things I’ve read in a long time. And what pollster is going to actually say Peltola would be a good candidate for AK Governor? The same one that said she’d be a good US Representative? Once bitten twice shy. Run away, Peltola, run away.

  8. Are the Dems auctioning off Mary as a charitable // stunt contribution?
    Or, is this a strategy to prop her up for a future political run?
    In either case, I would highly recommend to the future husband:
    … Pre-Nuptial
    … Post-Nuptial
    … Quarterly Performance Metrics, with enforceable Liquidated Damages
    … Hide all of your meaningful // significant assets within a Trust
    … Secure a Life Insurance Policy with someone else as the Beneficiary
    … Invest in lots of: penicillin, condoms, ivermectin, and Home Security
    … This might be the time to taken JB’s advice and “Just Don’t!!!”

  12. The Natives don’t really have a high opinion of her . Kamala Harris was totally disliked by the blacks in Cali and no support from the Hispanics.

    It would be hard to imagine her winning in Ak unless the Grifters Opportunists & Pimps party (GOP) screws up RCV again .

    She has no chance . In the 1960s whomever we elected was known with in eight hours of polls closing in Alaska. Not now. It takes weeks and the closer the election is , takes longer yet to certify . I am smelling a rat here ? What you say folks ?

  14. As is typical, the august readership missed something, judging from their comments. Namely, isn’t Carolyn Hall married? The series of posts from the ADP also included Maxine Dibert, who I’m pretty sure is also married. Doesn’t that seem at least a little creepy?

        • Let me get this straight. The Democrats are shopping Mary around for a husband and you are criticizing MRAK for mentioning it? If the Democrat Party thinks it’s relevant, and they obviously do, then it’s fair game. Over to you, Skippy.

          • Alright, I accept you’re a genius because you say so. However, you missed the mark with your response. I agree the Democrat Party is reprehensible but I wasn’t focusing on who started this tabloid-style drivel. Rather, I was criticizing the fact is was dishonorably echoed on here. This website and its commenters are generally more dignified. For example, I would never deign to mention the status of your romantic endeavors on here. It just ain’t right.
