NATIONAL GUARDSMEN RETAIN THEIR FREE SPEECH RIGHTS

I just finished reading a very disturbing story in Must Read Alaska that said Major General William Walker, Adjutant General of the District of Columbia National Guard, stated that National Guardsmen deployed to D.C. for the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden “went through an additional background check to weed out any whiff of domestic extremism.”
I verified this story with three other sources. I am totally outraged by a senior leader in the National Guard’s insinuation that some members of the National Guard may not serve our nation honorably when called to service and may actually be a threat to our national security.
National Guard members are American citizens. They do not give up their First Amendment freedoms to serve in the National Guard. They retain their individual rights of free speech and expressing their opinions through the political process when not in uniform.
We have reached a new low within the United States military by this action and it should scare the hell out of every American that a leader in the D.C. National Guard would even question the integrity and patriotism of any National Guard member assigned to the National Capital Region when serving under Federal orders of the President of the United States of America.
As a former Adjutant General of the Alaska National Guard, if General Walker had told me that this requirement would be levied upon those who volunteered to serve our nation for this event, I would have flatly declined his request. No Alaska National Guard member would be volunteered.
During my tenure as Adjutant General, there were some who strongly disagreed with my leadership and disagreed with actions of the President of the United States. However, I knew that when called into federal service these American patriots would fulfill the oath they took to serve the United States, without hesitation.
The National Guard has a very diverse membership which includes Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, independents, probably even some Socialists and other fringe groups. But every single one takes an oath to uphold the laws of the State of Alaska and the United States of America when in uniform.
It has been the rare exception that I ever witnessed a National Guard member not serve this state and nation honorably, and when it happened, disciplinary action was taken, often resulting in that person being separated from the National Guard.
National Guard members are citizen-warriors. They take the same oath of office as active duty members. It reads “I, [name], do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.”
I am incensed the FBI did additional back ground checks on all 25,000 National Guard troops coming into Washington for the inauguration. What a slap in the face to the National Guard.
Did the FBI vet every single active duty military member that is stationed in the National Capital Region and will be serving during the inauguration? Of course not, despite the fact that Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy has been quoted as saying there may be up to 25 active duty military members that participated in the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol occupation.
That raises the serious question about security within our active duty forces. I recall that the recent acts of violence by military members were conducted mostly by active duty personnel such as the 2009 mass killings by US Army Major Nidal Hassan at Ft. Hood; or the US Navy sailor killing two at Pearl Harbor in 2019; or the Marine who tried to enter Offit AFB with firearms, a silencer, body armor and ammunition, or the airman the shot his commander before killing himself at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in 2017.
America has reached a dangerous low, starting to resemble the practices of the former Soviet Union, and the Left is using this dark period to undermine our constitutional rights as Americans, using the federal bureaucracy to “weed out” undesirables and to institute a police state where a political purity test is necessary if you are to be allowed to participate in national events.
What’s next, a national score for every American citizen, like they have already instituted in China?
If a loyalty test is required for service in the military than I would recommend the Alaska National Guard court-martial Captain Forrest Dunbar (Alaska Army National Guard) under the Uniform Code of Military Justice for insurrection to the United States of America based on his publicly stated belief that the U.S. Constitution is based on racism. If Dunbar really believes the United States Constitution is such a flawed document that he must correct it as a political figure, then he has less standing to serve in the United States military than any of the “vetted” patriots that volunteered to serve in D.C during this up-coming inauguration.
I am continually amazed how the uber-left is able to twist the truth to fit their narrative. They tell us this past summers riots were peaceful protests. They say the Jan. 6 Capitol occupation was instigated by Trump and neo-nationalists. We now see that the occupation was actually instigated by left-wing anarchists, planned days before President Trump delivered his speech.
Now honorable citizen-warriors of the United States National Guard, under Federal orders, are being subjected to background checks to “weed out” the undesirables. Unbelievable!
Wake up America, our Constitutional Democratic Republic is under siege by Leftists determined to create a Socialist/Communist regime where the greater good of government trumps your individual rights, freedom, and liberties. May God bless America.

Duh. The warning signs have been there for literal years, even since Bush 41 let the “new world order” statement slip.
Indifference by US voters brought us to this point. “It couldn’t happen here”. But it has.
Too busy to go to the PTA. Too busy to politically organize. Too busy to go to city council meetings. Too busy to vote. Ect, ect, ect. Even with what Obama was up to most people were “too busy”
The left wasn’t too busy. The organized, planned, and pushed at the edges until the center collapsed.
Now here we are. We ARE the generation which allows freedom to become extinct.
The FBI has to “vet” the guardsman. That’s because the US population trusts the FBI so completely. The FBI has shown itself to be trustworthy and honorable at all points along the way. From ignoring Hunters laptop, to rigging the election….oh wait, THAT FBI?

This is nothing new. When you were in charge general, you had staff that was were weeding out service members who did not “fit” the democrat platform. If the command felt they were “too American”, they made life hard for them and they left or retired.
If they could not get them to leave, they became “impossible tasks”. That means when a service member was marked for expulsion, the task was passed from the out-going commander to the in-coming commander. Though commanders have denied this was the case, it’s very real.
BS!! As a former enlisted Alaska army National guardsman I saw none of this “ democrat weeding out process” you mention. Same with any sexual abuse of women. Not in my part of the guard!!
I guess you were part of the “weeding out process”. It all started when I questioned counter drug’s operations. They were the clean up boys for AST and DEA grow operation raids. I’m pretty sure with the Adrenalin flowing after it was over, they were not really in the mood of weighing weed on site. I wondered how much actually made it back to the evidence room. Then the rumors of weed being sold, the unaccounted for use of military aircraft (you can lie on paper, but fuel records are tattle tails), the gun smuggling back from the middle east (a well known MC confirmed that one).
Don’t muddy the waters with the sexual assault side show.
This was material for a really good book. Almost sounded like a rogue military unit in some central/south American country, but it was here in the U.S.
Yeah, it was “in your guard”.
The first problem in your fanciful tale is that Gen. Campbell never served in a Democrat Administration at the State level. He was appointed by Gov. Murkowski, who took office in 2002 when GWB, a Republican, was President. He was retained by Gov. Palin (R) and served as adjutant general until he became Lt. Gov. under Parnell (R) where he served until he went to the Aerospace Commission. I don’t recall the dates, but at least some of the General’s time as Adjutant General would have been under a Republican State administration and a Democrat, Comrade Obama, federal administration.
DMVA was in my portfolio for a good bit of my time with State labor relations. Personnel matters at DMVA could be a little tricky because of the mixing of the State and federal personnel systems, but I never viewed it as a particularly troubled or troublesome department. The sexual harassment issue was handled very poorly but that was because Gov. Parnell relied on political appointees trying to cover their butts rather than sending personnel or labor relations staff out to see what was going on and reporting honestly. Thus he gave the ADN enough rope to hang Parnell with it.
Actually, it was spelled out very clearly to us recruits in basic training when I entered the military that we pretty much lost our constitutional rights for this very reason. They had to know that we would obey the commander-in-chief…the president…without hesitation. While I know it sounds horrible, I can understand the reasoning for it. I was only 17 when I joined up, (I had been emancipated and already graduated high school). I was willing to sacrifice my rights in order to serve my country, as well as the possibility of laying down my life if necessary. That is what a member of the military does. I didn’t figure this out until later, but the BS stupid orders we’d sometimes be given in basic training were to test us to see if we would be compliant to orders from our leaders. There is a very, very good reason for this. You see, if you hesitate because you think the order is wrong, then you could cost every person in your unit their lives. They have to know we will obey without question and unhesitatingly. We were taught that no matter whether our CIC was someone we voted for or not, in the end, he (or she) would be our boss.
Yes, this “purity test” sucks, but I’m surprised it is even necessary. Do they not explain before a recruit signs up, and again in basic training, that their lives belong to the government or has that changed since I was in over 40 years ago? Yes, the purity test is a bit insulting, but if the military is that worried about someone’s ability to follow orders, then boot them out before they hesitate and get someone killed or injured.
Apparently Kerry questions orders, and has been labeled a whistleblower from his work in Vietnam. I’m surprised Joe trusts him enough. Or maybe it’s if you can be disloyal to the country then that’s the qualification that we’re looking for.
With respect, I implore you to think. You refer to a test to assure obedience to all commands, whether unconstitutional, immoral, or otherwise, as a “purity test.” The more accurate term would be an “impurity test.” Perhaps brainwashing was more effective than you even realized.
Americans got to wake up more than that. This country need to repent for their sins, it needs to stop producing 70% of the world’s pornography. It needs to apologize America used its power and influence to lead the rest of the world into sexual immorality (LDBTQ+). America started out as a nation where most of its earliest residents loved God and respected his commands. Today it become a depraved place where more of its residents love themselves more than God. Americans will find out what Isreal experienced time agian when they fell away from God worshiping idols and indulging in their desires. Out of America’s pride and arrogance, this once beautiful and powerful nation will fall because it never repented for its sins evenwhile it experienced God’s grace while Trump served. Americans never repented, Maybe thats why President Trump was given only four amazing years instead of 8.

I personally believe my sins were dealt with on the cross in accord with my confession and repentance. I would like to see the same occur in every person. But to judge a nation lock, stock and barrel is in Gods arena , NOT yours or mine!! SOME of what you say may be true BUT the US also SAVED the world from FAscism, Naziism and Imperial Japan in my parents lifetime and broke the back of Russian communism in my lifetime. Under Trump we were well on our way to bring China to its knees economically. There will ALWAYS be a mix of good and bad in all nations. Please do not ignore this and go back and read the parable of the wheat and tars.
That’s probably not the reason, it is written however that the devil is going to be in charge of the Earth and perhaps we’re seeing the beginning of that until Armageddon. Many of us have been too busy with our businesses or careers to get more directly involved in politics but it looks like we better shift gears before it’s too late, change course, toss out excess baggage and right our sinking ship before it founders on the rocks of socialism and fascism and sinks out of sight.

Where are Senator Murkowski, Senator Sullivan and Representative Young on this issue protesting that this if unconstitutional and an affront to all who have given an oath to give their life to uphold the Constitution of the United States? They have been AWOL on this whole issue except that Senator Murkowski has admitted she has become the “Jane Fonda” of the voter fraud war!
I’m wondering if this extra vetting is because we all know this is not a legal transfer of power and since part of the oath includes “domestic threats” some might think this bs in Washington on Wednesday is a threat, and I don’t mean any demonstrators. That is why all the troops and fencing, they know this is against what America stands for.

It pains me to confess that my wife failed State retirement after a couple of years and went to work for the big government. It took four months after the job offer for them to complete the background check on a thirty year high-level State employee whose only “criminal record” was driving her kids home from the airport in Juneau without car seats because she’d let her ex take her car to squire his kids around and the worthless POS thought it was more important to load his crap in the car than to make room for car seats. Well, there is some satisfaction in the fact that the harassing JPD female officer felt the need to call in an “officer needs help” to deal with a very angry woman.
President Trump was constantly bedeviled in trying to fill important positions in his administration because the federal personnel systems and background checkers slow-rolled every appointment. Hopefully they don’t think the American people are stupid enough to believe that the crooks and slugs that do this work for the US gov’t. can do a background check on 25K National Guardsmen from all 50 states. It is all a gaslighting operation.
Art’s probably onto something here, but if political extremists of any stripe are in the military, they will need to be dealt with. Otherwise, we’re going to be seeing things like we have in the Middle East where extremist military personnel are killing their fellow servicemen.
If only people spent as much time and effort holding their elected officials to task and responsible as they do looking to God to fix this mess.

The US constitution is not hard to understand and you don’t need to be an attorney to read it. But the politicians and the courts tell you otherwise that is because they ARE corrupt. They have all defiled their Oath. Roberts wouldn’t take the case in TEXAS because he would have been be fully exposed as Lin Wood exposed his photo with Ghislaine Maxwell sitting on his lap on pedo island and his name in the flight logs to back it.
