Suzanne Downing: Is conservative base giving Sen. Dan Sullivan a fair shake? Not really.

By SUZANNE DOWNING / MUST READ ALASKA

Will we ever learn?

Time and again, I see conservative readers at Must Read Alaska expressing their disappointment with Sen. Dan Sullivan, saying he doesn’t stand strong enough for their positions.

Those positions would be, in general, to support Republicanism, a strong national defense, solid borders, our Constitutional rights, and to reject the extreme agenda of President Joe Biden and his surrogates in the House and Senate.

They rightfully rail about Sullivan’s vote to confirm the nomination of Secretary of Interior Deb Haaland, a hardcore radical now in charge of most of the public lands in Alaska.

Haaland has proven a disaster. She is squarely on the side of those who want the Department of Interior to be a parallel national parks agency. Her legacy in Alaska will be along the lines of former Secretary of Interior Sally Jewell. All three members of Alaska’s delegation made the mistake of supporting Haaland, and all three should have known better. Hindsight is a cruel judge.

But a look at Sullivan’s entire voting record tells a better story. It’s the story of showing up, debating, and voting like a conservative.

Sullivan votes correctly on matters important to conservatives, and he does so all the time. He isn’t a knee-jerk voter or ideologue, and seems to wring his hands quite a bit as he worries about whether something is good for the country and, importantly, Alaska. That’s his nature — he is a worrier as much as he is a warrior.

He voted against the confirmation of Biden radicals to important positions in government.

He said no to Nomination of Kiran Ahuja to be director of the Office of Personnel Management. She, an advocate and practitioner of Critical Race Theory, was confirmed 51-50, with Sen. Lisa Murkowski also voting no.

Sullivan voted against the nomination of Chiquita Brooks-LaSure as the administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Brooks-LaSure is considered a political ideologue who is hellbent on destroying the fabric of the American family, while being an advocate for illegal aliens. Murkowski voted in favor of this nominee.

Sullivan voted against the nomination of Vanita Gupta to be Associate Attorney General, while Murkowski voted in favor of her.

While Sullivan voted against the nomination of Michael Regan as Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, Murkowski voted in favor.

He voted against the nomination of Xavier Becerra as Secretary of Health and Human Services, while Murkowski also voted against this nominee.

Sullivan voted against the nomination of Rachel Levine as Assistant Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, while Murkowski voted in favor.

Sullivan voted no on the nomination of Miguel Cardona as Secretary of Education; Murkowski was a yes. Cardona is a pioneer for using Critical Race Theory in classrooms.

He voted against the nomination of Merrick Garland as Attorney General, while Murkowski voted in favor.

Sullivan voted against the radical “For the People Act,” which would have the federal government take over elections, against what is set forth in the Constitution.

He voted against the creation of a national commission to investigate the Jan. 6 “attack” on the United States Capitol Complex, while Murkowski voted yes.

Sullivan voted against increasing the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour; Murkowski also voted no.

When it came to the vote to impeach Donald Trump for high crimes and misdemeanors, Sullivan was a no; Murkowski was a yes.

Do you see a trend here? While conservatives may disagree with Sullivan on some of his votes, and may take issue with him on his strategy for getting things done for Alaska, the bulk of Sullivan’s votes are clearly conservative and well within reason.

We elect people to represent our views. One hundred percent of them will not represent 100 percent of our views, and so it’s critical that we step back and look at the big picture. Does this senator (or representative) work hard, show up for votes, speak effectively, move legislation, work well with others, and reflect our values?

If we are to be honest, Sen. Dan Sullivan does those things and more; his constituent relations office, no small part of his job, is responsive to Alaskans, for the most part.

As with all elected officials, he has a “miss” now and then. But his record is solidly conservative, and Alaska conservatives should remember to offer him a bit of grace next time they think about getting into the circular firing squad.

  1. Senator Sullivan is for Alaska. Conservatives should not even question him.

He’s one of the best Senator we have. I have met with him personally and takes the time to explain things.

I for one will do what I can to spread the word and vote for him again .

    • “Conservatives should not even question him.” Interesting perspective. I’m sure if it were so, all of our elected officials would be ecstatic. You do understand what it means to live in a representative republic don’t you? These people work for us, not the other way around.
I question everything. So should you. Don’t be a sheep.

  2. Will SCOTUS allow us to protect ourselves?
Indeed What a Question asked by our own very stupid NRA Leadership!
S., 319 U.S. 770 (1943). In this case, the court held that the Supreme Court in Miller had not intended “to formulate a general rule” regarding which arms were protected by the Second Amendment and concluded, therefore, that many types of arms were not protected. Nonetheless, the court in Cases expressly acknowledged that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right when it noted that the law in question “undoubtedly curtails to some extent the right of individuals to keep and bear arms . . .” Id. at 921. (Emphasis added.) Moreover, the court in Cases concluded, as properly it should have, that Miller should not be read as holding that the Second Amendment guaranteed the right to possess or use large weapons that could not be carried by an individual.
Yes, many circuits have revolted against the D.C. V. Heller (2008) decision. In particular N.Y. Instead of Maintaining its office in New York and suing their pant of in the supreme court, Our bravadoes fled like scared cats to Texas. Now they want your money to take the fight to congress. I will again donate to the NRA when they take the Felons, all those who have broken their sacred oath of office, before the Supreme HIGH COURT.

P.S. Yes I support Dan Sullivan and indeed a return of President Trump

      • And then comes along the Biden/Harris administration. They’ve been just as, if not more so, divisive than Trump was. Until we get a third party who is truly For the People, we will continue to lose our middle class, more jobs shipped to China, more wars, worse healthcare, and more restrictions on our rights. These are the issues that both Democrats and Republicans support – the one giant oligarchy in DC.

  3. I emailed him about Facebook and the Chinese scam ads that they have. One in particular was a mini chain saw and the amount of people who posted that they were scams. I got caught in it too. The ad shows a mini Stihl chain saw and that it’s untrackable and takes months to receive and is usually a hand held mini chain only.
In short, his office called me to ask me about it. I asked that they investigate it and also credit card companies and PayPal since they have issued many credits to people who actually follow through on getting their money back. I have heard nothing more on any investigation, which would disappoint if not being done, but they did actually respond with not just a form letter.

  4. Sullivan has committed to helping re-elect Lisa Murkowski, whose votes effectively cancel most of his. Do you seriously expect that to change moving forward? In If there’s any shooting going on it isn’t a “circular firing squad,” but Senator Sullivan shooting himself in the foot. Conservatives are simply being consistent.

    • His support of LaKowski has cost him my vote FOREVER. Shown lack of backbone something I abhor. I will vote for whoever runs against him. As done with him as I am with the crossdresser in the AK ST Gov office. YUP down with these guys.

  5. Suzanne,
Dan is a conservative and votes accordingly. I trust him to do what’s right for Alaska.

    • By voting for a pork laden infrastructure bill he didn’t read?

      By backing Princess Lisa’s re-election?

      By voting for Haaland?

By plunging this nation so deeply in debt it will eventually collapse the economy?

By remaining silent when the FBI went after that couple in Homer?

We differ on the term “conservative”

      • Completely agree. Swampy Dan is a disgrace. There is zero way to call him a conservative. He will never get another vote of mine.
A Marine – please. Just another pathetic breathing machine elected to office.

Picking specific bills to vote conservative yet voting with dems/libs on others does not qualify as a conservative.

No sane, thinking conservative would have voted for the infrastructure bill.

…Really Jim? I will pass on trusting your judgment – I have a good memory.

  6. Seems to me one of the best courses of action for all Alaskans is to make Dan the Senior Senator and give him a good conservative senator to work with in the next election.. Clearly the list in this piece shows that just not to be the case now and it is pass time for Lisa to move on as the Senate is once again put back in Republican control with both Senators becoming more effective for all Alaska…

      • Is that what you call $5Trillion dollars in pork spending? Tell me….In the 2,700 pages of “human infrastructure” and green new deal pork what are the infrastructure parts again?

  7. If you go to a garden party and try to please everyone, all the time, you lose. Just try and please yourself.

  8. Good points, Suzanne…nobody’s all bad but half right is still half wrong and Sullivan’s one big mistake was voting to certify a fraudulent election and then ignoring the mounting evidence that it was stolen.
For that he is a traitor to the constitution and all of us.
Go read his statement on the votewhich begins:
“The violence that occurred in the Capitol building during the counting of the Electoral College vote was sad and dispiriting. There is no excuse for political violence. Those who chose violence in order to disrupt our constitutional duties, however, did not have the last word. Early this morning, the Congress completed its constitutional responsibilities, underscoring the resilience of America’s democracy.
Elections are often contested—2020 was no exception. I supported the right of President Trump’s campaign to pursue legal challenges and to request recounts through the courts. In our constitutional system of government, this is how electoral disputes and allegations of fraud are resolved. However, no Supreme Court justice, state or federal judge, state legislature or governor has found sufficient evidence to overturn any state’s election results.”
Sullivan is part of the problem in this country and throwing him out of office is part of the solution.

    • “Sullivan is part of the problem”? As an example of this “problem” you cite his voting to certify the 2020 presidential election. You quote the Senator “…no Supreme Court justice, state or federal judge, state legislature or governor has found sufficient evidence…”, yet those words do not seem to register on your brain!!! It’s a FACT that 60 legal challenges were filed contesting the election and NONE of them went anywhere. ZERO! Let’s be clear…most of the these people, including the Judges, were Republicans and many of them appointed by Trump himself! The AG, the head of cyber security, GEORGIA(!), the list goes on and on. What’s more likely? That all these 1000’s of people, MOST of them Republicans, lied and conspired…OR…Trump actually lost? You know, a sign of addiction and of mental illness, is blaming everybody else for your problems!

      • Cite one court case where the evidence was actually aired at trial in front of a jury and in full public view and found to be deficient…give us the full list and I’ll go read them.

        • If there is NO CRIME, there is NO TRIAL and therefore no jury. Are you an American? Because you don’t seem to know how the American legal system has worked for the last 200+ years!

          • Well, Antonio…it’s at trial before a judge and jury that the determination of whether there was a crime committed or not AFTER the evidence has been aired in full public view.
THAT’S how the American justice system works.
Glad to help clear up your ignorance.

  9. Gee, Dan just joined the vote to end debate on this ridiculous ‘infrastructure bill’……how’s that for conservative values????

    Aug 8, 2021
#Breaking – Clearing the final procedural hurdle in Senate after months of intense talks, senators voted to advance $1.2T infrastructure bill to a final up-or-down vote. Procedural vote was 68-29. A vote on final passage could occur as late as Tuesday morning if not earlier

18 Republicans joined with Dems, per @kristin__wilson.
Roy Blunt, Richard Burr, Bill Cassidy, Capito, Susan Collins, Cramer, John Hoeven, Mitch McConnell, Lisa Murkowski, Rob Portman,Jim Risch, Romney, Thom Tillis, Deb Fischer, John Cornyn, Roger Wicker, Dan Sullivan, Mike Crapo

  10. Many who are giving advice and pass themselves off as “Conservatives” on this website are anything but.. They may be Chinese communists, Democrat radicals, BLM racists, Critical Race Theory communist propogandists, American Marxists, etc. but falsly pass themselves off as conservatives and spread self-serving advice such as “Fellow Conservatives please don’t bother to vote, the system is rigged, it won’t count anyway” or lies such as “The bad orange man Trump incited his followers to riot on January 6th, etc.” True Conservatives have to INDIVIDUALLY take part in getting America back from these radicals before we lose the freedoms and liberties that so many generations of freedom loving Americans fought and died for. Before its too late.

  11. Suzanne,

I appreciate all the hard work you do keeping us informed with MRAK. It’s a life saver.

I know Dan got slaughtered in the comments section here last weekend. But If we are applauding his ‘doing the minimum to get by’ Jeb Bush conservatism to Murkowski’s we are in very big trouble. According to govtrack Dan Sullivan is the 42nd most liberal senator. Murkowski is 56. We are in an ideological war for the soul and future minds of this country. Nothing less. We need wartime conservatives ready to speak up, fight and win.

With HR5 ‘The Equality Act’ Dan told me in his letter he was for it. That is in favor of now granting LGBTQIA people extra rights. So any mentally ill man who identifies as a woman can go into a store or women’s locker room, get offended and sue the owner.

Dan certified a a very flawed election.

Dan did not help the Huepers in Homer whose lives were thrown upside down by the state security services.

He has not come out publicly as many other senators and governors have against the most vile attack on our children ever: Critical Race Theory.

He did not call out Lloyd Austin when he was here over comments about he made about extremism in the military.

And of course he approved the disastrous radical identitarian Deb Haaland for Interior Secretary.

The days of quiet Republicans burying their head in the sand over issues like taxes and amnesty while the country burns around us is not gonna cut it. Conservatives need to fight. There is just too much at stake.

  12. These are the conversations the people miss hearing while their leaders talk behind closed doors.
They can’t be blamed for their ignorance (not knowing what’s really happening) when their unelected community leaders, whom personally know, follow, and meet with the elect like Sullivan and Dunleavy talk behind closed doors.

Most Alaskans can’t even read or have persistence following the voting record/ No thanks to the delivery of public education and who Alaska has been hiring as Teachers.

Even Declared Democrats are just as ignorant as Declared Republicans and Independents and Libertarians. Their voters don’t even have the stamina and literacy knowledge to follow their own elect’s voting records. It’s all Alaska’s past and present leaders’ fault maintaining an ignorant population while laughing at us behind closed doors, after supporting shotty k-12 public education.
That’s why Must Read Alaska has been such a blessing.

    Thanks for the clarification.

  13. “Am I out of touch? No, it’s the children who are wrong!”
    Principle Skinner
Good luck outliving the Lisa endorsement. It’s possible but it will take a lot of hard work.

  14. Are you kidding me? Dan just voted for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Scam and gave the ChinaCrats a massive victory. Complete disobedience to President Trump, and consistently selling out the Patriots of Alaska!

      • Obedience, respect, what word would be “politically correct” for you? I want Alaska’s representatives to put America First, and nine times out of ten that means listening to (obeying) what President Trump has to say!

  15. Well this article didn’t age well in 24 hours; remember the editor of this site is a former Jeb Bush speech writer………………….so do you really expect her Not to support an establishment RINO?

  16. Is it too much to ask Sullivan not to vote for a $3.5 trillion Democrat bill that will outlaw criticism of the CDC and install spy cameras in cars? Murkowski of course would vote for it without a second thought but Sullivan is a real Republican. Or so I thought.

  17. Dan Sullivan is partly Conservative with enough Swamp tossed in to make him a reliable member of the D. C. Establishment. His support of Lisa is supporting evidence of the above. I suppose we could have done worse, we could have elected Allen Gross. I supported Sullivan last year. While I am not happy with the Senator but still, he beats Lisa and Allen Gross…

So Suzanne, we could do far worse and Senator Sullivan is a really nice fellow, in your opinion is that a “Fair Shake”?

  18. Thanks Suzanne. Those of us who know Senator Dan know he is a conservative who votes and works for Alaska. Those who disagree are simply ignorant – both of what he does and how the system works. Is he perfect? Of course not, and neither are any of us readers… Dan has my vote for as long as he wants the office. May he serve longer than Uncle Ted.

  19. Thanks Suzanne for a thoughtful and factual article. Dan is our ONLY fighter for Alaska and Alaskans in the Senate with the traitor and hard core RINO Lisa Murkowski not listening to us but the phone calls for the socialists that come in.
I had over an hour face to face with Dan’s Chief of Staff. I laid out my strong concerns and the answers I got back were thoughtful, factual and strategic. I still disagree with some of his votes, but he does listen and does respond back. Unlike Lisa!
I strongly believe that when we toss Lisa and replace with Kelly Tshibaka, Dan will have a partner that will give Alaska even better strength and maybe less of the “mistakes” of Dan like Suzanne pointed out.

  20. You could call Sullivan a conservative if he actually lived up to that term, which he hasn’t. Take a look at the Conservative Review online. In there you will find the liberty score of every senator and representative at the federal level. All you have to do is click on the state of Alaska to get our congressional delegation’s liberty scores, which by the way, are miserable. Sullivan’s stands at a paltry 53% which gives him an F. You can also look at the individual bills that he has voted on that gave him this score.

  21. We worked very hard to replace Begich with Sullivan. There are 535 members of congress, it’s a smaller community than Shishmaref. Everyone in DC knows the game and each other.
Where is Sullivan speaking out against forced trial vaccines or passports? Where is he speaking out on hundreds of citizens locked up for months under his feet in the DC jail?
It isn’t the final vote on the so called infrastructure bill that is all Chamber of Commerce pay back money, it’s the maneuvering done to get it passed while pretending to be “conservative”. As a senator your either with McConnell or your real. McConnell is toxic and will work to primary out anyone who opposes him and his buddy Schumer schemes.
Certifying a patently fraudulent election and pretending that the communist activists that have complete power to destroy this country as legitimate says all you need to know who Sullivan is.

  22. Senator Sullivan votes like a conservative and talks like a conservative. Excellent. He needs to put his beliefs into action, which would include taking risks to advance those principles. Unfortunately, he appears to be very risk-adverse. Risk is part of life and part of politics. Many Alaskans, including conservatives, live on the edge and take serious risks every day. The late Senator Ted Stevens was an absolute warrior and Alaskans loved him for it. If Senator Sullivan acted courageously, in the face of risk, to advance and defend his core beliefs, his approval ratings would greatly increase.

    • To amplify a bit on my main point: Senator Sullivan was just re-elected to a six-year term in the United States Senate. If there was ever a time to exhibit a backbone on issues that matter, this is it. Sitting on the sidelines today is a ticket to being un-elected in 2026.

  23. Might be a question of effective messaging…
    .
Simply put, Senator Sullivan’s July 31 MRAK essay “How to advance Alaska’s interests in the new hostile territory of D.C.” wasn’t what one would call inspirational.
    .
Quoting Chesty Puller is one thing, emulating Puller’s leadership for Deplorable constituents with enemies in front, behind, and on their flanks is quite another.
    .
Commenting on the essay, two of Madam Editor’s devoted readers outlined fifteen specific issues on which the Senator’s apparent silence and absence of leadership are most disappointing when one considers the perils Americans face today.
    .
In other words, now’s not a good time for Senator Dan’s conservative constituents to worry about whether he stands strong enough for their positions.
    .
So, we respectfully ask the Senator to be more communicative, yes… in Puller/Trump style, about what matters to conservatives.
    .
That would help with the fair shake, yes?

  24. Suzanne you make some good points – but, at the end of the day Dan is a “go along to get along” RINO. His ranking at the 42nd most liberal senator is disgusting, frankly.
    Death by a thousand cuts?
His vocal support of “Kenai land Deal” Murkowski is deeply troubling – deeply.
He hasn’t publicly said anything about vax mandates – gotta love Senator Rand Paul.
We can do better – and we should.

  25. Thanks SD. Nice synopsis and well needed.
But it seems Dan’s political policy is play alone to get along. When one has the inmates running the asylum, that’s bad policy, and the electorate knows it.

  26. Nobody has squandered more goodwill than Swamp Dan. Nobody.

    Not even Dunleavy.

I’m curious why Must Read is trying to give him cover. That’s usually what the Porcaro show does.

  27. Answer this, Sullivan supports the senior Senators re-election bid even with her terrible voting record. This is a slap in the face to conservative Alaskans.

  28. Dan Sullivan just voted to give the Pentagon an additional $25 billion, even more than even what Biden was asking for. We have more people in jail, homeless, dug addicts, lack of good healthcare, and low paying jobs, Sullivan, like the majority of the two-party oligarchy in DC, has money for wars. Dan Sullivan, just like Murkowski, has voted to extended the Patriot Act. The true conservatives that I know aren’t warmongers, nor do they have any trust with the Intelligence Agency. I do not support neither Sullivan nor Murkowski, nor do I support anyone running in 2022 so far.

  29. Scott Kendall is a Republican lawyer who works on campaigns in Alaska. He served as the chief of staff for Alaska Gov. Bill Walker (I) from 2016 to 2018.

Kendall previously worked on campaigns for Walker, Sens. Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan, and was Alaska managing director for the consulting firm Black Rock Group

    • Scott Kendall has done so much to advance the left’s agenda in Alaska…Walker’s chief of staff, Recall Dunleavy, Proposition 2, Murkowski’s campaign guy….given that he’s helped Dan helps explain why Dan has a hard time being a true conservative. Dan’s background at Perkins Coie also is a tip off.

  30. Swampy Dan won’t commit to how he’ll vote on the “Pro” act.

Swampy is getting roasted here because he deserves to be roasted here.
If we had wanted Begich we would have kept him.

  31. Suzanne,

Your points that Sen. Sullivan is not all bad, and in fact is mostly good, are correct and well-received. However, there’s an old saying: A teaspoon of sewage mixed with a barrell of fresh water is still sewage. What we need to ask ourselves is whether his bad votes are truly sewage or if they are more akin to, say, seawater (to continue the metaphor) which can be diluted into irrelevance.

His vote for Deb Haaland as Interior Secretary was appalling. She is the most anti-oil, anti-resource development and quite frankly anti-Alaska Interior Secretary in history, and Sullivan’s vote for her was a vote againt Alaskan jobs and livelihoods. There is no way he could have thought he was looking out for Alaskans’ interests when he cast that vote.

His announced support for Sen. Murkowski’s reelection is equally appalling, as she has voted against him on nearly every critical issue (which you did a fine job of pointing out). Why on earth, with a record like that, would he want to keep her in the Senate? Certainly not to please the conservatives who elected him!

I have presented two teaspoons which have been mixed into Sullivan’s barrell of water. It will ultimately be up to the voters to determine if they were full of sewage or merely seawater.

  32. He just voted with Lisa and the Democrats on the infrastructure bill. He’s done In my book. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on you.

  33. I’m sure Swampy will be on the Porcaro show today with a nice explanation of why he screwed us for our own good.

How do I know Swampy Dan is a hypocrite and has no allegiance to conservatives? Simple: he’s a Republican. He’s of the same corrupt cloth as Giessel, Stukes, Shaw, and Dunleavy.

    Damn them all.

  34. He voted for the wholly unconstitutional Infrastructure Bill. Guess we know to whom he belongs now.

    Some conservative…

  35. Sullivan “…and we get broadband…”.Sorry Dan,but you’ve finally lost my support. I had hopes.

  36. To much trash is this bill infrastructure bill, he made another bad decision along with these senators, McConnell, Roy Blunt of Missouri, Richard Burr of North Carolina, Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Susan Collins of Maine, Kevin Cramer of North Dakota, Mike Crapo of Idaho, Deb Fischer of Nebraska, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Chuck Grassley of Iowa, John Hoeven of North Dakota, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Rob Portman of Ohio, Jim Risch of Idaho, Mitt Romney of Utah, Thom Tillis of North Carolina and Roger Wicker of Mississippi.

  37. Having established at this point that he’s an unprincipled if not even compromised puppet, we should ask ourselves just whose puppet is he?

AFN? Public employees’ unions? Some well-heeled greenies? Banksters who’ll be right in the middle of the colossal wealth transfers he’s supporting?

  38. If Senator Sullivan’s vote to confirm Deb Haaland to the Secretary of the Interior was his only “mistake” I could continue supporting him. However, his yes vote on the Trillion Dollar Infrastructure bill was a big mistake and I will not be supporting him in the future. I am sick and tired of RINOs. This “going along to get along” attitude by some Congress members who were elected as Republicans is catching. Senator Sullivan is acting more and more like Senator Murkowski.

  39. Help me understand how his vote for the infrastructure plan is conservative.

    Crusty Old Grandma

    • Because he has an (R) next to his name on the TV, duh. You don’t even have to think about it, they put the tribal affiliation letter on the screen. You vote for your tribe, and hate anyone who questions them.

      –sarc

  40. You know we love you Suzanne. We appreciate all of your hard work getting MRAK up and running for a conservative voice.
I think what you are missing is that fact that you are just too close to these politicians. The forest for the trees expression comes to mind. The big picture at this point is the fact that America is at war now. The country was biologically attacked with covid to aid in the theft of the Presidential Election, among others. The country was also digitally attacked to steal the election. Most of us know it. Dan went along with it, and is still going along with it. That’s a huge problem. The country has been highjacked by globalists, and Dan and the others are playing along with it. He can deny it all he wants, but he isn’t fooling everyone all of the time as the saying goes.
Take a step back Suzanne and realize what is going on in the big picture. Bullets are not flying, but make no mistake, we are at war with the evil that is attempting to capture our nation. Dan is part of that problem.

  41. Oil is the life blood of Alaska. Oil made the Alaska Permanent Fund possible. Alaska Oil helps make America Energy independent. Deb Haaland is ferocious anti fossil fuel radical. She would rather have us import Saudi Oil so they can build their castles in the sand. Strangle our Alaska economy by closing ANWAR, denying road access to King Cove, taking away the Federal land allotments to 7,000 Alaska Native VietNam Veterans. The Federal Gov’t owns 61% of the land in Alaska. Hunting ,Fishing rights, Mineral exploration, Timber harvest, all issues affecting Alaska adversely with the appointment of Deb Haaland as Sec. of Interior. Sen Sullivan, Sen. Murkowski, Sen Lindsey Graham all just gut shot Alaskans with their vote, for Deb Haaland. I shall remember ! Milking the cow in Wash. DC to bring $Billions of other peoples money into the state is just thievery. Making us beholden to the Swamp !

  42. Suzanne, well said. I support Senator Sullivan in the whole and think that he is doing a really good job for Alaska and it’s residents.

Senator Sullivan is also working effectively with Senator Murkowski as he should and with Congressman Young. Alaska and the residents need a United front representing our state in DC. Anything less would be a disappointment. He is doing great.

Can you imagine the difficult position of not having any support from the other Senator and having to go it alone? He might be between a rock and a hard place, but Senator Sullivan is not the one up for re-election in 1 1/2 years.

  43. I was not happy with some of Dan’s votes on some of Biden’s nominees for positions in this Administration. But I was prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt. But now he has voted YES on the dems $1.2 Trillion inflationary leftist dream Infrastructure bill which is loaded with wasteful nonsense. This is a tough one for me to swallow. Many believe the 19 R’s that voted for the bill stabbed fiscal conservatives in the back. I expected Lisa to vote for it, but I was really disappointed in Dan.

  44. Compassionate. Conservative. Moral. Knowledgable. Sane. I’d take him in a heartbeat over the past two clown shows in the Whitehouse. The look on his face on January 6 said it all and I am sure that he is livid about August 15. Both are horrific days in our history.

  45. Sullivan also voted for the pork filled stimulus pkg that sent billions overseas, and had the gall to tout his vote on his facebook page.
His support of Murkowski, who cancels out his votes, is mind boggling.
He is a player doing a balancing act between libs and conservatives. His dance is not in Alaska’s best interests.
Tshibaka is a TRUE conservative. Wish we could get another one like her to run against Sullivan at his next election.
