  1. Had those news rooms stayed in the news reporting business those news room would still be working but they became political and began to lie and make up stories instead of reporting the news and people turned them off….and tuned them out….and no longer trust anything they say..!!

  2. Rush Limbaugh said the newspaper business was the only one where the customer is always wrong. I doubt they’ll stop being Democratic Party mouthpieces just because they’re going out of business. They probably would scoff at the suggestion there’s any connection.

BTW, kudos for using the Boomer meme guy in an article.

  3. The only people still paying attention to the mainstream media, are Democrats, because the MSM is just an arm of their party.
Why would I waste my time and on money on a platform populated by psychopathic liars, when I can instead turn to independent sources like MRA and others who earn my trust by telling the truth and reporting actual facts?

  4. Perhaps that is because all newspapers turned into big media owned, leftist propaganda drivel that no one wants to read.

  5. Well, let’s look at the bright side: As poorly as Anchorage has been served by newspapers in the last two decades, at least we have not had to endure the muckraking of Howard Weaver. Lousy coverage beats ugly coverage most days.

  6. It is because the news turned into Ratings and began competing with Sitcoms and Pilot Shows instead of the true intent of journalism.

There are industries that need to stay neutral of political and commercial intent.

The first is journalism. For now, the rest is debatable.

The reason journalism is first is because it is stated or inferred in the Constitution. Journalism has become the core of human trafficking.

The Journalistic Abuse of Human Trafficking is absolute in the sense of making decisions for people, dividing people, silencing people, and oppressing Democracy.

Thank God for Must Read Alaska.

  7. I would like to say good riddance (with certain notable exceptions like Suzanne…), but what this means is much more trading of lefty fantasies around the internet and less real news – more echo-chamber and much less information. “News” sources won’t go away, they’ll just be even less valuable as information sources and even more prone to propaganda.

  8. That is why the censorship of digital media has been initiated and first amendment/free speech has been twisted and assaulted. In pure capitalist fashion, The People have chosen freedom to write and read what they choose, while the centralized communist planners who print and broadcast the daily propaganda are losing in the market.

  9. I call the Juneau Empire a tabloid, it is not a “news” paper, with exception of maybe the weather forecast and some miscellaneous school sports coverage. They need to stop wasting and polluting with their huge amounts of paper (made from cut down trees that should be replacing CO2 with O2) that end up in landfills without being read.
