The State of Alaska has joined the Texas lawsuit on election integrity.

“Alaska submitted a letter to the United States Supreme Court that adds Alaska to the list of amici states supporting Texas in its lawsuit against lawsuit against Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan, and Wisconsin,” the Department of Law said in a statement.

“I agree with the attorney general that the integrity of this election is a critical bedrock principle of our republican form of government,” said Gov. Mike Dunleavy. “There are too many critical questions that need to be answered to give the American people confidence that their vote counts.”

“Signing onto cases such as this should never be taken lightly. While this case concerns election integrity, it also has an impact on state’s rights. As Alaskans, we should all be careful about involving ourselves in the inner workings of other states. However, the issue of election integrity impacts all of us, and the question of free and fair elections must be answered in order for all Americans to have confidence in our system. We hope for an expedited decision from the Supreme Court,” Dunleavy said.

Alaska becomes the 18th state to back the lawsuit against Georgia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan for violating election laws.

Six states are signed onto the lawsuit Thursday: Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina and Utah.

The amici brief was filed Wednesday by the attorneys general of 17 states where Trump was the projected winner involved Missouri, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, and West Virginia.

    • C – They missed the deadline for being officially part of the lawsuit, but they could file an amicus brief. – sd

    • I think what the states are doing is trying to get this case of election integrity in front of the Supreme Court. They know there sas tampering and fraud, if/when it is proven and ruled on by them, the decision will then apply for all election fraud and tampering. …and states.
I don’t know what the strategy is from there but i am sure that if they can prove that WE THE PEOPLE have not had a free election because of the tampering….something will have to be done.

  1. An ‘amici’ (group) brief is not the same as joining the lawsuit. Alaska’s ‘amicus’ brief does not enjoin Alaska in the suit. The brief is basically a ‘letter of support’ for the plaintiffs. The six states that are actually prosecuting the case are the ones filing the lawsuit. The rest of the, now 18 states supporting it, are not actually in the court fighting for America. Amicus support is much better than doing nothing. Good for the Gov. there.

  2. I would imagine that the Governor’s office has been getting some paint-blistering phone calls to get this done. Finally getting the message through that Alaskans are more than a little upset with government over-reach and down right corruption.

  3. Thank you for your effort Governor. If we can’t make this right I don’t think we will ever see an honest election.

  4. Good on ya, Governor. Now, go after those Dominion ballot machines that were used across the state of Alaska. Next, go after the Democrats: Snyder (Dist 27), Hopkins (4), and Wool (5),…….all State House representatives that used absentee ballots to commit election fraud in 2020. This crap has got to stop.

    • I agree. The absentee ballots used in key, contested House races were overloaded. Something is really stinky here. All Democrats winning those seats 7 days after the November 3 election, when Republican candidates won on election night. NO WAY!
The state Supreme Court idiots dropping the long standing requirements for witness verification. NO WAY! Use of Dominion ballot counting machines. NO WAY!
These Democrats were harvesting illegal ballots in Alaska, propped by the George Soros money infused through the Dr. Al Gross campaign to unseat Dan Sullivan. $38 million spent on that campaign alone. None of these Democrats are legit. Fraud in the factum!

      • It is deplorable that the current president has systematically undermined the US Electoral system by claiming that absentee voters are commiting fraud. These people are expatriates like me or people who do not wish to risk getting COVID (295,000+ deaths FYI).
Just because this man repeats things over and over and over again does NOT mean they are true.
It would be a good idea to do some serious fact-checking on your assertions which have been floating around the social networks and QAnon for quite some time.

  5. This is really awesome! I am glad that Governor Dunleavy and the State of Alaska are standing up for free and fair elections, the rule of law and the constitution. This is a demonstration of what real leadership looks like. Thank you very much Governor Dunleavy!!!

  6. Do we not use the same crooked voting machines. Is Alaska checking them out. Send them back for a refund and lets go paper ballots and purple finger system.
    CHuCK

    • I don’t think it’s so much about the voting machines as it is about the way states loosened security on our elections, which just made fraud easier.

  7. It’s not a “group” brief, but rather as Wikipedia describes:
    .
An amicus curiae (literally, “friend of the court”; plural: amici curiae) is someone who is not a party to a case who assists a court by offering information, expertise, or insight that has a bearing on the issues in the case. The decision on whether to consider an amicus brief lies within the discretion of the court.

    Hope that helps.

    • States challenging other states election results is unprecedented and has no basis in law.
There is NO evidence of voter fraud.
Trump suffered a resounding defeat, and casting doubts on the legitimacy of our elections is a total dictator move. This is full scorched earth tactics, there will never be a legitimate election if Trump succeeds in overthrowing these legitimate election results. It’s disgusting and un-American, wake up.

      • “There is NO evidence of voter fraud”
        .
What there is no evidence for is any honesty or intelligence on your part. There are mountains of evidence of systematic voting fraud in this last election, but you are clearly too blinded by your partisan hatred to look at and examine it.

    • Not really. Better never than late. But maybe the AG’s Office did this to pad their losing record. When did the Alaska A.G.’s Office decide to become the New York Jets of Alaska legal oprations?

  8. A change that was not expected thank you govenor now how about knocking down the non elected mayor and her perverted cesspool of an assembly for the continuation of violations against our civil liberties and Bill of rights and the state constitution

  9. I’d like to applaud him but this absolutely reeks of a token gesture made after seeing which way the wind has been blowing and/or after finding out just how hard AFN and the public employees unions would have come down on him if he’d done the right thing in the first by actually joining the suit.

  10. Excellent……I thought I was going crazy, I saw it on the news this morn then could not find it anywhere, except here. I believe all of those joining are by amicus.
Total division of the country with many other states joining the defendants.
To me doing nothing when other states have violated their own laws which in turn violates Alaskans rights is surrendering your sovereignty, so doing nothing is not an option. Support by amicus is a supporting statement.

  11. Mean while, Alaska Supreme Court screwed the election process up and Dunleavy and his AG hid in their basements doing nothing. Reminds me the of the big boss at WKRP in Cincinnati, hiding in office playing paddle ball.

  12. Glad our name is at least added to the list in some manner, of course our courts also changed the rules without legislative approval (no witnesses needed).

    • I emailed him about it myself. After working elections in Alaska, I was appalled at the way so many states, ours included, made security too lax.

  13. I can understand the Governor filing an amicus brief, but think it would have been much more effective if he would have asked Governor Abbot to include Alaska as a defendant and filed suit against us for violating our election laws too. Including Alaska as a defendant would add credibility to the suit since we are satisfied with the outcome at the federal level even though the election requirements were violated. We don’t have a bone to pick with the outcome unlike the other defendant states.

The court ruled no witness signature required on absentee ballots, which it had no authority to do. The governor should have ignored the court ruling and upheld the law.

  14. We’ll done Gov! Finally some stones! Now we’ll see how long Murkowski stews on behalf of left before she bails on the ship, once again.

  15. I am glad that has at least recognized shown up for the game, but I feel this is much like casting the only opposing vote after a majority vote has already been cast. Voting for the principle only, not for the outcome.

  16. Thanks for the link to the actual suit. I challenge anyone from either side of the fence to read this, I will then value their opinions. It’s not them against us, it’s just us. I also value the fact that the Governor has represented the majority of his state in support of this suit. The ruling by the high court will of course trickle down and perhaps correct the fraud that has been occurring in our state. For some time.

  17. Such a bunch of sore losers. This is a last ditch effort to support white elitist aristocrats who wish to overrule the majority of American voters and subvert a well sanctioned and well run election . The Republican party has become a treasonous group of rich white guys trying to run this country for their own personal gain and benefit without majority support of the population . There is no evidence anywhere of any significant dysfunction in the voting system anywhere ,other than open voter suppression in places like Texas, Florida, Georgia, Alabama which have been a ongoing battle for republicans to prevent poor middle and working class individuals from expressing their right to vote

  18. I disagree. This case is so egregious that it warrants a hearing at the Supreme Court. Texas was right to bring this suit, because we have states using COVID as a cover to completely upend the way elections have ALWAYS gone. They knowingly bypassed all the safeguards designed to prevent fraudulent votes. These states have disenfranchised the entire nation, effectually making voting irrelevant by cheating the system. COVID doesn’t mean our rights and LAWS are now meaningless.

It is simply statistically impossible for Biden to have won more votes than ANY president in history. More than Obama!!! Yeah, that was fair. A guy who spent his entire campaign hiding in his basement. A ancient crust of a man, who when he did emerge, couldn’t make a salient point, and half the time didn’t know where he was. This guy! This guy was the guy that got more votes than any other president in US History… Uh huh.

  19. Dunleavy has been a disappointment since day one. He seemed to come out of the gate strong when he laid off all those state employees, but eventually caved to the criticism. Now, he waits for issues to brew, giving him time to decide what reaction would be most politically expedient before publicly declaring where he stands. That “walking tall” guy in the movies took action; this one is mostly nervous reaction.

  20. Somebody needs to tell this guy (Dunleavy) to at least try to make a token gesture of smiling once in while.
    .
Honestly, what is with the frowning, perpetually worried look on his face lately?

  21. I think things will improve in this country when some of our more basic needs can be met by elected leaders who aren’t trying to enrich the wealthy and keep the working class divided.
How many readers here earn over 150k per year even? Not me, by any means. And I’m certain that tje elected leaders with the R behind their name are not acting in my interests. I urge you all to just give the Biden administration a chance. If you dont see tangible improvements to your way of life after his 4 years, then we can oust him. We have a real problem with affordable healthcare here, and unless you’re already on a government run plan, those of us in our 30s who are trying to run a business, raise kids on 100k a year cant afford the health care costs! I expect to hold the incoming administration accountable to that campaign promise. Lack of affordable healthcare is holding alot of us back

  22. This, exactly. If this goes through nothing stops the Muni Assembly from suing South Dakota over how SD handles transgender bathrooms or Florida for not allowing criminals to vote.

Never, ever use a weapon you don’t want used against you. Especially in politics.

  23. Can’t know if you really lost if you can’t rely on the votes being real.

And yes, Alaska’s judge screwed up the security in our election because TWO people claimed they couldn’t get witnesses for their absentee ballots. Well, then, the State should have sent them witnesses instead of jeopardizing the integrity of our elections, I say.
