Alyse Galvin appeared at times angry and emotional during her debate with Congressman Don Young. There were a couple of cordial exchanges, but Galvin was primarily on the attack on Thursday night, ripping the congressman for not fixing Alaska’s roads, and for not stemming global climate change. The Dean of the House is just not enough for Galvin, who says it’s time for her to take over.
In the hour-long debate, Galvin attacked time and again, and claimed she would be “in the room” in the majority, which is run by the Democrats and Nancy Pelosi.
Young got under her skin by calling her “Alice” and by reminding her that she had tens of thousands of dollars from Pelosi.
Galvin flashed anger when Young asked her why her communications director, who is her daughter, said that Galvin was for gun control. She said her family is off limits and she was “tired of all the lies.”
But she also brought her family member into the debate, becoming emotional in relaying a story about the death of a family member.
Young stayed above the fray, and reiterated his record of achievement, which includes more legislation passed than any other congressman in the history of the United States.
After the debate, left-leaning public broadcasting journalists Lori Townsend and Liz Ruskin picked him apart with the help of former legislators Democrat Les Gara and Democrat sympathizer Andrew Halcro, who were commentators. Americans for Prosperity Alaska Director Ryan McKee was the token conservative commentator.
Gara attacked Young for not voting to pass the Pelosi HEROES Act, while McKee said that bill would have paid for pensions in New Jersey and wasn’t good for Alaska businesses affected by COVID.
It was clear to the majority of viewers that Congressman Young won the debate, as his record of achievement was on full display and Galvin failed to demonstrate even the most basic understanding of the issues raised. Sixty-eight percent of viewers taking the poll on Alaska News Source said Young won the debate.
Viewers noted Galvin was emotional and needed to tone it down.
Ruskin and Townsend are liberal appendages of the Democrats. Zero ethics for these “news” reporters.
Galvin lacks emotional stability.
Alyse has a personality disorder. The extremes in emotion, quick to anger, lack of self introspection, playing the victim card to manipulate all point to this. She has no clue who she really is so anything negative against her made up narrative infuriates her. It’s a bit sad but even more sad is that she’s passed these same traits on to her daughter.

First, I was heartened when I initially read your post. It seemed that finally, there was a person on this blog who responded with facts and not some insipid, unsubstantiated, inane assertion.
Second, my initial exuberance declined when I read your comments about my lack of “scientific explanations” and that my “political explanations are worn.” How can there be a lack of scientific explanations when all I did was asked Harmon Nelson to explain why temperatures are rising? What worn-out political statements did I make when I asked my question? All I want is some rational discourse about an obvious fact: Alaska’s temperature has risen tremendously over the past 50 years.
Since you feel that I should provide a scientific explanation, I will.
“Higher output from the Sun.” With such scant verbiage, it is difficult to discern exactly what you mean. Are you referring to the Sun’s 11-year cycle or something else? The Sun does effect Earth’s weather, but it not a factor in its climate. In fact, sensors in the upper atmosphere indicate the amount of the Sun’s energy entering the upper atmosphere has remained constant, while the lower atmosphere has warmed. Something is going on inside the atmosphere causing the our planet to warm, but it is not the Sun.
“Pacific oscillations.” Again, I have to assume what you mean from such an incomplete thought. I guess you refer to the Pacific Decadal Oscillation. Like the sun, PDO affects Earth’s weather but not its climate. In fact, PDO cycles relatively quickly from warming to cooling. So we should see Earth’s temperature rise and fall quickly, but it does not. The Earth’s average temperature continue to rise over time. PDO is not causing Alaska to warm.
“Oceanic volcanic activity.” This statement really baffled me. Most of the output from volcanos have a cooling effect on Earth’s weather due to the conversion of its sulfur dioxide into sulfuric acid. Sulfuric acid increases the amount of the Sun’s radiation reflected back into space. On the other hand, volcanos do release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, so I am glad that you agree CO2 is a greenhouse gas and is warming the planet. However, there are so few volcanic eruptions that they cannot be the cause of the continual and relatively rapid increase in the Earth’s average temperature.
“Earth has moved its revolutions closer to sun.” Yes! The earth does go through a cycle regarding its orbit. As you well know, all planets’ orbits are elliptical, as per Kepler. Again, I’m sure you understand from Newton’s theory of gravity why each planet’s elliptical shape changes over time. Every planet is pulled by the gravitational forces of the Sun, the other planets, and the various moons. This is a natural process that influences Earth’s climates.
“Changing earth cycles.” Again, you did not supply sufficient information regarding what you meant here. I’m assuming you meant the Earth’s periodic changes in the tilt of its axis. Please correct me if my assumption about you is wrong. Over time, this affects out planet’s seasons. Sometimes the winters last longer and sometimes the summers last longer.
These last two statements of yours actually bear on climate change. We know that the Earth’s climate does change over a 100,000 year cycle. During that cycle, the Earth warms a bit and it cools a bit. During that cycle glaciers grow, and they recede. However, that cycle is long and very gradual, or very incremental.
However, our planet’s temperature change has been dramatic and extremely quick over the past 170 years. During the past 800,000 years the amount of CO2 in the Earth’s atmosphere has fluctuated between 180 and 280 parts per million. Glaciers recede when CO2 is 280 PPM and they grow when CO2 is 180 PPM. We have been monitoring CO2 since 1955 and it has steadily grown to over 400 PPM CO2 levels are 50% higher than they were historically. CO2 levels have increased dramatically since the Industrial Revolution We know that CO2 is a greenhouse gas.
This is verified by Venus and its tremendous levels of CO2 and its incredible temperature compare to Mercury which is much closer to the Sun. Venus’ CO2 greenhouse gases trap the Sun’s warmth in the atmosphere. Earth’s CO2 gases do the same thing. It traps the Sun’s heat in the Earth’s atmosphere, which raises the Earth’s overall, average temperature. The greatest contributor to CO2 in the Earth’s atmosphere is the burning of fossil fuels. This is an undeniable fact.
I am very glad that you enjoy Alaska’s warmer temperatures. I am not so sure that other people will equally enjoy our plant’s increasing temperature. Temperatures at the Equator will become unbearable. The sea level is already rising. As more and more ice sheets twice the size of Massachusetts break off of Greenland and Antarctica, and as glaciers such as Portage Glacier and Exit Glacier recede into oblivion, their water goes somewhere. Obviously that water raises sea level. The earth’s sea level is already measurably higher. While you live in a more comfortable temperature, the Marshall Island are disappearing, and so will Florida over the next few centuries. How will Polar Bears adapt so quickly to their rapidly changing environment?
I apologize for going on so long a response, but real scientific explanations of this nature cannot be expressed in short sound bites.

But I know that my late model diesel truck had been retrofitted with new technology for reduced carbon output and better mileage efficiency. I deliver oilfield supplies and am satisfied knowing that wise gentlemen, such as yourself, use the fungible oilfield product to get to your job and off on your family vacation. It keeps your house warm in the winter too. Your scientific explanations used to buttress your conclusion did shed some additional light on details. I’m too busy bringing you and your family the precious fossil fuel that you need for basic sustenance. Good for Don Young for exposing Nancy Pelosi’s reason for not providing anymore Stimulus Funds to hard hit Americans. It is outrageous that Congressional Democrats are holding aid legislation hostage unless Republicans agree to fund exorbitant pension obligations in Blue States.

As a libertarian, I was reluctant to vote other than the president and two ballot measures. However, I did end up voting for both Sullivan and Young simply because I’m terrified of the two AG’s Alyce Galvin and Al Gross. That said, I strongly suggest the AK Republican party finds someone to replace Young and Murkowski by 2022, preferably someone like a Thomas Massie or Rand Paul. True anti-war, vote no on extending the PATRIOIT Act, sponsor bills to end no-knock raids that kill both cops and suspects, and vote to end federal funding for Planned Parenthood and Obamacare.
